Lesson II Activity:

The Licensing Debate

In Georgia, the Department of Agriculture is responsible for ensuring proper labeling of food and beverage products, including herbal teas, syrups, and other consumables. While they do not regulate health claims—that falls under federal jurisdiction—they do require labels to meet specific formatting standards. This includes clearly displaying the product name and net quantity on the front panel, and including a full ingredient list, allergen information, business name and address, and any necessary storage or handling instructions on the information panel. At this time, I have been unable to find any language that is specifically banned in the state of Georgia.
